Lac Léman shoreline. The lakeside road toward Lausanne and Montreux suits a grand tourer or convertible better than a city car, with wide curves and lake views for most of the drive. Parking at the larger hotels is straightforward; traffic through central Lausanne can slow a midday run.

Jura foothills and vineyard roads. West of the city, the Satigny and Dardagny wine roads climb gently through vineyards and small villages. Narrower lanes reward a nimble sports car rather than a long-wheelbase model, and the loop back into Geneva takes well under an hour without stops.

Chamonix and the Mont Blanc valley. The route into France toward Chamonix crosses the border and climbs steadily, with tunnel sections and mountain switchbacks that favour a car with strong brakes and all-wheel drive. Check border and cross-border terms with us before booking if this is the plan.

Verbier and the alpine passes. Heading east into the Swiss Alps toward Verbier means altitude changes and tighter hairpins, particularly outside summer months. An SUV or four-wheel-drive model handles the terrain more comfortably than a low-slung supercar.
