Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This page explains how Priveo Cars handles personal data when you visit priveocars.com, send us an enquiry, or get in touch by email, phone or WhatsApp about renting a car in any of the 39 cities we serve. It applies to visitors and prospective or confirmed renters, whether you are booking a sports car, a luxury SUV, or a convertible for a weekend.
Priveo Cars is a premium car rental platform connecting travelers with a curated network of local rental partners across Europe and the UAE. This policy sets out, in plain language, what we do with your data and how you can stay in control of it.
Who is responsible for your data?
The controller for the personal data described in this policy is Priveo Cars, the brand operating priveocars.com. If you have any question about this policy or about how your data is handled, you can reach us at [email protected]. We answer every privacy request ourselves; we do not outsource this to a third party.
What information do we collect, and where does it come from?
When you fill in our enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, and, if you provide them, your phone number, the car you are interested in, your chosen start and finish location, your pick-up and drop-off dates, your message, and, for airport deliveries, your flight number. The form also records the page you were on and the site or search engine that referred you, so we understand which page prompted your enquiry.
If you contact us by email or phone instead, we collect whatever details you choose to share with us, such as your name, contact details, and travel plans.
If you tap a WhatsApp button on our site, we record that click together with the page URL, the referrer, the language of the site, and the prefilled message text, before WhatsApp opens. The conversation that follows happens on WhatsApp itself.
Our server also keeps standard technical logs of visits (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for a short period, for security purposes.
Separately, our own visit-measurement script, served from our domain, records anonymised browsing data such as pages viewed, time on page, referring website, campaign parameters in the link, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language, and the country derived from your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored for this purpose. If you then send an enquiry or tap a WhatsApp or phone link, that action is linked to the same visit so we know which channel brought you to us.
Why do we use your data, and what allows us to do so?
We use enquiry and contact details to answer your questions, prepare a written quote, and arrange your rental. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and later to perform the rental contract once a booking is confirmed.
We keep server logs and use visit measurement to understand how our site performs and to keep it secure, which we do on the basis of our legitimate interest in protecting the site and improving it for visitors.
We keep booking records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is a legal obligation.
When a booking is confirmed, we also need your driving-licence and identity-document details at vehicle handover. This is required so that the local partner can verify you are entitled to drive the vehicle and complete the rental agreement; these details are collected directly by the partner at pick-up rather than through our site.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to.
Who do we share your data with?
Within Priveo Cars, your enquiry is stored in our booking system and forwarded to our team through an internal messaging tool so that someone can reply to you quickly. Only the people who need it to handle your request see it.
When you confirm a booking, we share the enquiry details needed to carry out the rental, such as your dates, locations and chosen car, with the local rental partner operating in the city you have chosen.
Our website is served by a hosting provider that stores the site's files and the technical logs mentioned above.
A few outside services are called by the pages you visit: Google Fonts loads the typefaces on our site and receives your IP address in doing so; the phone-number field in our enquiry forms uses the intl-tel-input library, delivered from the jsDelivr content delivery network; the destinations map on our homepage loads the Leaflet library from unpkg.com and map tiles from CARTO, built on OpenStreetMap data. Each of these providers sees the request coming from your browser, including your IP address, but none of them sets cookies on our behalf.
If you start a conversation through our WhatsApp button, that conversation takes place on WhatsApp, operated by Meta, under WhatsApp's own privacy policy, which we do not control.
Our footer also links to our Tripadvisor and Trustpilot profiles. These are plain links; nothing from those platforms loads on our site unless you actually click through to them.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Does your data leave the European Economic Area?
Some of the outside services described above, such as Google Fonts, jsDelivr, unpkg.com, CARTO, and WhatsApp/Meta, may process data on servers located outside the European Economic Area as part of their normal operation. Where this happens, it is a feature of using a globally delivered service, and these providers are responsible for ensuring an adequate level of protection for data they process. If you book a car in the United Arab Emirates, the relevant booking details are naturally shared with our local partner there in order to arrange your rental.
How long do we keep your data?
If your enquiry does not lead to a booking, we delete it after 24 months. If it does lead to a confirmed booking, we keep the booking records for as long as tax and accounting rules require us to.
The local-storage entry that remembers you closed the cookie notice, and the entry that holds random visit-measurement identifiers, are kept in your browser and expire automatically 30 days after your last visit; you can clear them at any time through your browser settings. The session-storage entry that remembers which car you clicked, so the enquiry form can be prefilled, is deleted as soon as you close the tab or send the form. None of these browser entries contain your name or contact details.
Server logs kept for security are retained only for a short period before being deleted.
How do we protect your data?
We limit access to your enquiry and booking details to the people and systems that need them to answer you or carry out your rental. Technical logs are kept only briefly and only for security purposes. We do not install third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media trackers on our site, which keeps the number of parties handling your data to a minimum.
What are your rights, and how can you use them?
Under the GDPR and the national data protection laws of the countries where we operate, you have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive a copy of the data you provided to us in a portable format. You can exercise any of these rights by writing to [email protected]; we may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within one month.
If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the EU country where you live.
Children, and changes to this policy
Our service is intended for adults who are old enough to rent and drive a car, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our site or to the law. The version published on priveocars.com is always the one that applies, and we encourage you to check back here if you want to know how your data is handled.
